"How Santa Claus Came" is a short Christmas story set in a snowbound village where a fierce blizzard has cut off deliveries, leaving Mr. and Mrs. Burnell quietly dreading their children's heartbreak on Christmas morning. Young Petish, the most spirited of the five Burnell children, cannot imagine a Santa who fails to arrive — and she's right to believe. When the children creep downstairs in the dark, they discover something far warmer than presents: a secret rescue unfolding by firelight, with laughter carefully hushed and breakfast slowly taking shape.
