GRANDMIXER DXT is a musician and DJ who is set apart from the rest in musical innovation. In his early career, DXT was the main DJ at the number one club in NYC, The Roxy! DXT is best known for using the turntable and operating it as a musical instrument. He was the first musician and DJ to perform this particular feat, making the Technics brand the most familiar name in the music industry. His mentor Herbie Hancock coined the phrase "turntablism" when referring to the technique GrandMixer DXT uses.

This innovation changed how DJ's and musicians create and produce music, and earned GrandMixer DXT earned a spot on the Grammy Awards stage in 1984. This is the year DXT (then D.ST.), Herbie Hancock and the Rockit Band received a Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance.

In more recent years, GrandMixer DXT has been inducted into the Guitar Center Rock Walk of Fame in 2014 for his contributions to the music industry. His handprints are forever cemented onto "The Hollywood RockWalk" on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, CA.

GrandMixer DXT is also currently working on a variety of original recording restoration projects for major recording artist. DXT has restored the highly acclaimed Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall. In 2015, GrandMixer DXT's production studio equipment was used to film a popular Progressive Insurance commercial in which he acted as a technical assistant on set. More recently, GrandMixer DXT appeared in episode I and II of the 2016 Netflix series Hip Hop Evolution.
