The Word of God is my source of comfort for dealing with a spirit of heaviness that causes you to feel cast down, over burdened, insecure and inadequate. So I turned to God recognizing my weaknesses and depending upon Him as my Strength.

The spirit of heaviness is really a spirit of depression. This spirit may follow generations and nations. And because it is the spirit you need spiritual authority and power to overcome its sway in your life.

Only the Word of God, Who His Christ Himself Living IN you as the power to overcome the spirits that assault you.

So be strong in the Lord, be empowered through your union with Him; draw your strength from Him that strength which His boundless might provides. Ephesians ‭6:10‬

God’s Armor of Prayer is for every believer, every member of the Body of Christ, to put on and walk in to do Spiritual warfare against the enemy of all mankind, satan, the god of this world, and all his demonic forces. Ephesians 6:12, 18

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

First, let me give you a Word of God reference point on the spirit:

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3

This is also His promise to all believers.

The Living Word of God in you He gives beauty for ashes, oil of Joy for mourning, the Garment of PRAISE for the spirit of heaviness

It is an evil spirit—a personality that studies us, knows our weaknesses, and knows how and when to attack. Recognizing the identity of this spirit enemy is a tremendous first step, but then it must be fought.

It shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered. Joel 2:32

Remember, just as heaviness is a real spirit, the God of the Bible is a real Person, and He is behind Each promise. He promised them to you for a reason – to help you.


The Holy Spirit will Direct you to the Word of God, His Promises for Joesph, ask Joesph to meditate on them. They will give him hope and they will change him. Romans 12:2
