This story is a first-person fictional narrative about a 21-year-old college student who became paralyzed from the waist down after a childhood car accident. Rather than defining herself by her disability, she develops a fiercely independent and emotionally detached outlook on life. Facing financial pressures during college and struggling to find flexible work, she devises an unconventional way to earn money: creating an anonymous gloryhole setup on the patio of her apartment. She carefully designs the arrangement to maximize privacy, security, and control, using barriers, appointment scheduling, and strict rules for customers. What begins as an experiment gradually turns into a profitable side business. As word spreads, demand increases, and she develops a system for managing appointments and maintaining boundaries. Throughout the story, she emphasizes that anonymity and control are more important to her than the money itself.
