Génesis 25: Cuidado con hacer tratos apresurados.

No olvides leer todo el capítulo donde comienza la historia de los hijos de Isaac: Los mellizos Esaú y Jacob.

Génesis 25:19-34:
19 Esta es la historia de Isaac, hijo de Abraham. Abraham engendró a Isaac. 20 Isaac tenía cuarenta años cuando tomó por mujer a Rebeca hija de Betuel el arameo, de Padan-aram, y hermana de Labán el arameo.
21 Isaac rogó al SEÑOR por su mujer, que era estéril. El SEÑOR accedió a su ruego, y Rebeca su mujer concibió.
22 Como los hijos se empujaban dentro de ella, dijo: —Si es así, ¿para qué he de vivir?
Ella fue a consultar al SEÑOR, 23 y el SEÑOR le dijo: —Dos naciones hay en tu vientre, y dos pueblos que estarán separados desde tus entrañas. Un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro, y el mayor servirá al menor.
24 Cuando se cumplió el tiempo de dar a luz, he aquí que había mellizos en su vientre. 25 Y salió el primero, rojizo y todo velludo como una túnica de pieles, y llamaron su nombre Esaú. 26 Después salió su hermano, con su mano asida al talón de Esaú, y llamaron su nombre Jacob. Isaac tenía sesenta años de edad cuando ella los dio a luz.
27 Los niños crecieron, y Esaú llegó a ser experto en la caza, hombre del campo. Jacob, por su lado, era hombre tranquilo y solía permanecer en las tiendas. 28 Isaac prefería a Esaú, porque comía de su caza; pero Rebeca prefería a Jacob.
29 Cierto día Jacob preparó un guisado. Y cuando Esaú volvía del campo, cansado, 30 dijo a Jacob: —Por favor, invítame a comer de ese guiso rojo, pues estoy muy cansado.
Por eso fue llamado su nombre Edom. 31 Y Jacob respondió: —Véndeme primero tu primogenitura.
32 Entonces Esaú dijo: —He aquí que yo me voy a morir; ¿de qué, pues, me servirá la primogenitura?
33 Dijo Jacob: —¡Júramelo ahora!
Él se lo juró y vendió a Jacob su primogenitura. 34 Entonces Jacob dio a Esaú pan y guisado de lentejas. Él comió y bebió, y levantándose, se fue. Así menospreció Esaú la primogenitura.


Aunque ellos nacieron el mismo día, estos hermanos desde que estaban en el vientre de su madre venían con personalidades definidas. Uno era activo y el otro pasivo, uno más expresivo y el otro más reservado, uno tenía un estilo de vida más activo en el campo y el otro era más casero.
Pero, aunque el hijo más admirado era Esaú por su valentía, Jacob era un joven muy astuto y siempre buscaba la forma de ganar en todos los tratos.
El que nació primero era el mayor, y Jacob siempre quiso ser el mayor, él admiraba la posición que tenía su hermano.
Cuando Esaú le pidió alimento, Jacob vio esto como una gran oportunidad de ganar ventaja sobre Esaú. Al pedirle Jacob la primogenitura, él le estaba pidiendo la posición de hermano mayor. Esaú lo vio como algo insignificante y cedió a la petición de su hermano. Esaú pensó que no le iba a afectar en nada el hecho de hacer un trato verbal.
Lo que Esau no vio fue que esta posición de primogénito incluye ser el heredero de las cosas que el padre le da a su primer hijo. Además, el primogénito era el que iba a heredar ¡todas las promesas que Dios le hizo a Abraham! ¡Dios dijo que por medio de él y su descendencia serían benditos y también serían bendición a otros!
Más adelante vamos a ver cómo esto afectó el destino de Esaú y como perdió la bendición. Hoy quiero que miremos el peligro de hacer promesas o negocios a la ligera. Esaú se dejó llevar por el hambre y el cansancio. Y no solo eso, la altivez y arrogancia lo encegueció que no pudo ver el peligro de sus palabras ociosas, pues realmente él no estaba a punto de morir y podía haber pedido comida a otra persona. Aquí leemos que literalmente menospreció a Dios al menospreciar la primogenitura.
Tengamos mucho cuidado con nuestras palabras. Jesus explicó que por medio de las palabras podemos ver lo que hay en el corazón en Mateo 12:35-37: “El hombre bueno del buen tesoro saca cosas buenas, y el hombre malo del mal tesoro saca cosas malas. Pero yo les digo que en el día del juicio los hombres se darán cuenta de toda palabra ociosa que hablen. Porque por tus palabras serás justificado y por tus palabras serás condenado.”

Esaú no tenía un corazón limpio. Es por eso que fue desechado por el Señor y Dios escogió a Jacob.
Así que las palabras te salvan o te condenan, traen vida o muerte, construyen o destruyen.
Ten cuidado como hablas a tu pareja y a tus hijos. Una palabra en el enojo podrá marcar a ese ser querido de por vida o afectará su desarrollo en su vida.
Una palabra de menosprecio puede hacer eco por muchos años en la mente de aquel que amas. Valora lo que tienes. Más adelante verás el gran privilegio que es tenerlos a tu lado. No menosprecies tu heredad, tu bendición, tu familia, tu hogar.

Genesis 25: Beware of making hasty deals.

Genesis 25:19-34 NLT:
This is the account of the family of Isaac, the son of Abraham. When Isaac was forty years old, he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram and the sister of Laban the Aramean.
Isaac pleaded with the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children. The Lord answered Isaac’s prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins. But the two children struggled with each other in her womb. So she went to ask the Lord about it. “Why is this happening to me?” she asked.
And the Lord told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.”
And when the time came to give birth, Rebekah discovered that she did indeed have twins! The first one was very red at birth and covered with thick hair like a fur coat. So they named him Esau. Then the other twin was born with his hand grasping Esau’s heel. So they named him Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when the twins were born.
As the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter. He was an outdoorsman, but Jacob had a quiet temperament, preferring to stay at home. Isaac loved Esau because he enjoyed eating the wild game Esau brought home, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home from the wilderness exhausted and hungry. Esau said to Jacob, “I’m starved! Give me some of that red stew!” (This is how Esau got his other name, Edom, which means “red.”)
“All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.”
“Look, I’m dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?”
But Jacob said, “First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob.
Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left. He showed contempt for his rights as the firstborn.


Although they were born on the same day, these brothers since they were in their mother's womb came with defined personalities. One was active and the other passive, one more expressive and the other more reserved, one was more active in the field and the other was more of a homebody.
But, although the most admired son was Esau for his bravery, Jacob was a very astute young man and always looked for a way to win in all deals.
The one who was born first was the oldest, and Jacob always wanted to be the oldest, he admired the position that his brother had.
When Esau asked for food, Jacob saw this as a great opportunity to gain an advantage over Esau. By asking Jacob for the birthright, he was asking for the position of older brother. Esau saw it as something insignificant and gave in to his brother's request. Esau thought that making a verbal deal would not affect him at all.
What Esau did not see was that this position of firstborn includes being the heir to the things that the father gives to his first son. Furthermore, the firstborn was the one who was to inherit all the promises that God made to Abraham! God said that through him and his descendants they would be blessed and they would also be a blessing to others!
Later we will see how this affected Esau's destiny and how he lost the blessing. Today I want us to look at the danger of making promises or business deals lightly. Esau was carried away by hunger and weariness. And not only that, the haughtiness and arrogance blinded him that he could not see the danger of his idle words, because he really was not about to die and could have asked someone else for food. Here we read that he literally despised God by despising the birthright.
Let's be very careful with our words. Jesus explained that through words we can see what is in the heart in Matthew 12:35-37: “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

Esau did not have a clean heart. That is why he was rejected by the Lord and God chose Jacob.
So words save you or damn you, bring life or death, build or destroy.
Be careful how you talk to your partner and your children. A word in anger can mark that loved one for life or affect their development in their life.
A word of contempt can echo for many years in the mind of the one you love. Value what you have. Later you will see what a great privilege it is to have them by your side. Do not underestimate your inheritance, your blessing, your family, your home.
