Episode 134 was inspired by a recent conversation we had with a new business owner who was overwhelmed by too much information. He had taken a multi-week class on starting a business, read blogs, listened to podcasts and purchased a franchise that came with a huge marketing manual. The problem was where to start, how to focus on what's most important and how all the advice in the world could b put into the simplest version possible to get his business off the ground. That's what we did for him and we hope to do for you with this episode.
His 800 pages instruction manual had 798 too many pages. Everything necessary was on the first two pages: Brand, Products & Services, SWOT, Audience, Advertising (all of it), Public Relations, Sales. We break all of these segments down to simple, easiest-to-understand action plans.
05:00 It was all on the first two pages
10:38 Brand + Product/Service DIFFERENTIATION (#1)
13:37 POSITION vs. competition (#2)
20:41 Target AUDIENCE (#3)
24:54 SET and MEET EXPECTATIONS (#4)
29:50 FOCUS on most effective channel(s) first (#5)
On the #NeoMarketing podcast, The Golding Group partners Kyle Golding and Pritch Pritchard, APR & Fellow PRSA discuss best practices, latest trends and modern techniques for professional business communications including advertising, marketing, digital channels, social media, public relations and alternative options. Educational, informative and (hopefully) entertaining.
