I lost the green cranial that went with it though. I haven't been able to find a good one on ebay.

I know the Marines were using F4s up to 1980. I don't know how much longer they used them. F4 used the VTAS computer system. The same one Apollo used to land on the moon. The F4s used them for seeing what the pilot saw and the radar could lock in on the target.

I used to have to stand watch over on the prt side during flight ops to man a sound powered phone and make sure it kept working throughout flight ops. I still have my flight deck vest with the Interior Communications globe and phone stencilled on the back. Too bad I can't find a battery for the old distress signal the old SDU 5E

We had an old decommisioned F$ on the flight deck for ref tra for the flight deck crew to practice fire fighting skills with. Iwas sad to see it in that shape. Kind of like seeing F-14's going to ruin now adays

Oh wow Eric! I worked on the radar system on the F4 Phantom. I sat in the pilot's seat many times and even powered up the electronics. I never started the engines though. lol

I have a shot of that SR71 as well. That museum was set up by a airplane fan. As you walk in the first two thing I saw were the P-40 and the F 4U hanging from the ceiling then as you focus past them there was the Enterprise space shuttle so as I am walking down the mezzanine with my jaw down the SR 71 comes into view. Almost a religious experience for me

It was coming in for a landing and was about 400 feet from the runway. With a 110, you wouldn't see much anyway.

Toke a picture of a SR71 with an 110 instamatic and I had my film confiscated. Yet off base just outside of the fence, they were taking pictures with professional cameras and telephoto lenses.

I took awesome shots with the K-1000. I used to shoot tons of pictures from Vultures Row on the Nimits. Most of the squadrons I have photos of landing and taking off don't exist any more VF-84 comes to mind. Coolest tail art in the 6th fleet. The Jolly Rogers
