WEEK 11; DAY 3
ESAU'S SYNDROME

Heb12:14-17
Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you'll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one gets left out of God's generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God's lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God's blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.

What is Esau's syndrome?
This is the act of satisfying your today at the loss of tomorrow. The act of eating your seed. The act of meeting your emotional desires at the expense of your instructional journey.

Have you ever given someone so much love and respect, get repaid by a brutal act and thought, if only i could show this person that i am also capable of madness/ brutality? Just one minute of revealing i am not a pushover, i am not stupid?

Infact, there was this song that seemed to be sung by most sometime back - Try Jesus, don't try me.

So I ask you, when you are tried either by hunger or by anger, what do we get? What really are you made of? When you are squeezed, do we still get to experience the kingdom?

Or are you one that just cares about what is right in front of your nose, forgetting there is more to life? Are you impulsive?

Then it is time to take a step back, look within and align with the Spirit regardless of how painful the pruning becomes. Let yourself get trained by whatever is thrown at you towards maturity in the kingdom.

"Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time"

Let's talk a bit about the weeds of bitter discontent. These weeds are prone to happen because in your journey of life, you will experience individuals with different kind of attitudes and responses/reactions. You will have expectations that will be disappointed but must be managed. You will go through fire whose intent is to burn you but it is your responsibility to guard your heart and walk unscathed. This is possible because of who you are: God's carrier.

No matter what, guard the garden of your heart because out of it are the issues of life.

I will conclude with this quote i heard about 17years ago :

"The stronger the winds, the deeper the roots and the longer the winds, the more beautiful the tree”.
In this medley of life, we cannot tell what may happen to us, but this we can tell,
‘No winter lasts forever, no spring skips its turn’.

I pray that you get more than a glimpse of God as others gets His generosity from you in Jesus name, amen.
