Have you considered taking advantage of your parental leave to travel? Have you been stressed out by the idea of traveling with your baby for the holidays? Does breaking away from the routine of your daily nap, feeding and sleep schedule seem daunting? My guest Milly Godwin helps all of us to see what is possible through her story of traveling during her parental leave with her partner Stu and her baby Poppy during their parental leave. Her postpartum period was not all rainbows and sunshine. As a Certified Nurse Midwife she had to come to terms with needing a cesarean birth and felt scared about what that would mean for feeding her milk coming in and her ability to latch and feed her baby. She also encountered difficulty when at a few weeks postpartum her partner was diagnosed with a brain tumor and needed emergency brain surgery. This was scary and stressful, but Milly was well taken care of her family and was given the opportunity to focus on feeding her baby, which so many of us need in the postpartum period.Despite this unexpected bump in the road, Milly and Stu and Poppy were still able to travel from the tip of South America all the way to Canada and learned so mouth about the culture of breastfeeding and about what traveling with your baby can do for you in the postpartum period. This episode is great for those who want a big adventure like MIlly, or who just hope to take a short vacation.Milly’s beautiful Instagram page @wildtravelchild is full of stunning images of her breastfeeding while traveling and her website is meant to be a resource for all people wanting to travel with their babies and children of all ages.Head to Apple Podcasts or Spotify for more episodes!Join The Milk Making Minutes Facebook Group to talk about the structural barriers that make breastfeeding so difficult and work together to chip away at each one.To get individualized lactation support from me, Lo, go here.To buy books about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and parenting, and to support the show while doing it, go to my bookshop!Follow me on IG @milkmakingminutespodcast to laugh about breastfeeding and to see photos of guests!
