mostra di piùspiritual theology. Plus, we do so with a shared foundation in metaphysics. Our welcome and
special guest is Fr. Charles Carpenter, M.A.P. Fr. Carpenter hails from Hawthorne, California,
and this Christmas was the first he’s celebrated in the United States in 50 years! He has a
doctorate from Rome’s Gregorian University. He celebrates both the joys of philosophy and the
virtue of eutrapelia. Among the questions we’ll ask are the following:
1. Could you please tell us a bit about how you came to discern your vocation?
2. The founder of your order, Fr. Aloysius Ellucaria, was a remarkable man. Can you
explain his charism?
3. You’ve authored a book on St. Bonaventure. What led you to do so?
4. As a seminary teacher, you have helped form young men for missionary work. Why do
missionaries need a philosophical as well as a theological education?
5. Why is metaphysics a special passion of yours?
6. Play, and playfulness, have a prominent place in Christian life. Why is that so?
7. What can you tell us about the musical heritage of the people of Mexico?
8. Word on the street is that you’ve only read Tolstoy’s War and Peace twice! Would you
recommend that those of us who suffer from cultural distractions read it at least once?
9. What can we do to foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life?
10. Where do you see your order in ten years’ time?
