So we have explored the PEPP Story elements in some detail - and now it's time to write your speech. By write your speech, I don't actually mean word for word, but I also don't mean get our PowerPoint and start producing slides. Sadly, I have seen far too many people who start with PowerPoint. I have even had meeting planners ask me to send them my presentation, assuming that at the core will be a PowerPoint presentation.
There are a lot of professional speaker who never use slides and others who always use slides. Then there are lots of rules about using slides, though I don't agree with a lot of them. How you use slides depends entirely on the style and content of your speech. Later in the week I am going to look at slides, but today I want to look at the speech writing process and the work you need to do before you even think about opening up PowerPoint.
Slides, props, videos. interactive exercise are all great, but they are there to support your speech, to make it more understandable and memorable. They are not the presentation. So join me tonight as we look at the process of writing your speech the PEPP Story way.
Don't forget that you can contact me at Rikki@rikkiarundel.com to find out how you can benefit from One to One coaching with me - and book a free 30 minute introductory coaching session.
