I am going to spend the rest of this week talking about Storytelling, because it is so important. All great speakers are storytellers, and storytelling is one of the oldest arts known to man. The oldest surviving text from about 2500 BC, is the Epic of Gilgamesh, a long epic Sumerian poem, and the story structure of this poem is identical to almost every James Bond plot. It's a story structure known as the Hero's quest.

Much of our ancient history comes from the storytellers. Your competition as a speaker is TV and Movies. If you want to be an outstanding speaker, you will need to tell stories know one has heard before, and that means drawing mostly upon stories from your life.
