There is a famous story from over 100 years ago. At a lay preachers conference a veteran speaker was asked how he constructed such inspiring sermons. He replied, “I take my text and divide my sermon into three parts. In the first part I tell ’em what I am going to tell ’em; in the second part—well, I tell ’em; in the third part I tell ’em what I’ve told ’em.”

This simple structure has become the foundation of great speeches ever since and that formula has been recommended by most coaches - why - well it works.

Opening - Body - Conclusion - and today I want to look at that structure in a little more detail to help you to construct memorable speeches.
