The gap between rich and poor, haves and have nots is increasing and is also reflected in differences in life expectancy between rich and poor which is 10 years for men and 8 for women. Superimposed on this is the fact that women's lead in life expectancy over men is falling. Health is worsening as women smoke and drink more and suffer more diabetes and 1 in 8 children have mental health issues. We discuss the reasons for this and what can be done about it.
