The challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community are deeply complex & among them is the prevalence of hate crimes. Despite strides toward greater acceptance and equality, the persistence of violence targeting individuals based on their sexual orientation or gender identity is a heartbreaking reality. Hate crimes against the LGBT community remain a grave and pressing issue, leaving many to deal with fear, trauma & a profound sense of vulnerability. This week, my incredibly brave & inspiring guest shares his harrowing story of how he was able to survive brutal hate crime.
David Keck, host of Surviving Abuse podcast, was a victim of a brutal hate crime. He was followed home one night by a man and was attacked, brutally raped, beaten and left for dead. David’s body was found 18 hours later, but luckily still alive. David’s trauma and healing journey is eye-opening & thought provoking. He is using his story to bring awareness of all forms of abuse and went from a victim mindset to survivor.
