In this episode of Becoming with Angelina Watkins, Angelina discusses the impact of church on who you date and marry.

This podcast is about telling the truth in hopes that others can learn and grow from hearing other people’s stories of triumph. It wouldn’t serve the listening audience if Angelina didn’t share her full truth about what has happened, how she felt, how it impacted her life, and what she did to overcome. There has been times when people have suggested she not share, but she has decided to keep sharing her truth in hopes that it helps others.

Part of her truth was to further discuss the church’s impact on dating. In Episode 7 Irreconcilable Differences, she mentioned how couples who are going to church together and getting the same teaching were still getting divorce. She expounds on that observation in this episode.

The church encourages you to pick a mate based on having similar religious beliefs and being under the same godly teachings. It makes the relationship easier if you are both have the same teachings. But dating a man that goes to church is not a guarantee of a lasting relationship. Angelina shares how from what she has seen, there are men in the church who treats you worse then men who don’t go to church.

She had let the church teachings and opinions of others cause her to pass on really nice guys that could have been good mates. She finally reached a point where she decided she would no longer let religion keep her from love.
