I had a wonderful conversation with Peter Merz, the Ballet West Academy Director since 2015 to present. Peter and I dive into his history as a Professor at Point Park University teaching a class on Arts and the Human Experience, he is a former dancer with Cincinnati Ballet, Dayton Ballet, and Louisville Ballet. We focus our conversation around the Ballet West Academy Summer Intensive and how we will probably be one of the only companies this summer holding a Summer Intensive due to the Corona Virus. Ballet West Academy has taken in all the safety protocols and extra measures to keep this training and human interaction in a safe and socially distancing environment; by providing testing, checking temperatures, and excessive cleaning of the studio before and after classes are held. I will be teaching for the Ballet West Academy Summer Intensive and I am excited to see if this prototype scenario will work the same for the company and companies across the world as we adapt into our new future.
