E21: Joined by Hollywood’s own Matt Bloom; Emmy Winner, BAFTA nominated British director of TV, commercials, short films and music videos. On top of his IMDb credits, Matt has graduated from International Film School in Wales and mentored with Baz Luhrmann (director of 'Moulin Rouge' and 'Romeo and Juliet'), he has over 3,000 hours on set. We discuss his time working with Emma Bunton from Spice Girls, and how he continues to leave his mark on in the UK film Industry and Hollywood!
We get the director’s cut ;) on his lucky break coming from chance, family support, Prince’s Trust Charity and only child delusions. While the entertainment industry can be seen as a closed club by way of whitewashing, exclusive to the rich and male-centric; Matt argues that great storytelling comes from a rich tapestry of people. Advocates like Viola Davis (the Black Meryl Streep), Halle Berry and Chadwick Boseman, and female directors such as Kathryn Bigelow, Soffia Coopla and Patty Jerkins break the Hollywood mold. We discuss similarities between artists, athletes and medical doctors, upcoming movies post-COVID and the Capitol building riot making 2021 seem like a bad Micheal Bay movie.
