Tuesday, January 14 -  Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, the effects of the wildfires in the LA area could have on those in the area, the latest finding from a study on how fluoride affects the body (especially the brain), a warning from the surgeon general and the link between alcohol consumption and cancer, and a new treatment using an old antibiotic for sexually transmitted infections could reduce the risk of contracting STIs. Plus, seven signs that you may have Adult-ADHD — including a combination of impulse behaviors, trouble with time management, mental fatigue, and forgetfulness — and steps to take from Dr. Ken. Then, opining that as we get older we start to think about how to better take care of ourselves, such as moving out of a home with stairs or taking over a bedroom on the first floor, but there’s more to it than that. Often times, in lieu of a nursing home, many move in with their adult children who become the caregivers. However, there’s more of a focus on “sandwich caregivers” now — adults who are taking on the role of caregiver to a parent or elderly loved on in addition to having young children in the home, too.
