December 15: Don't underestimate the blessing.

Psalm 109:1-21:
Do not keep silent, O God of my praise! For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful have opened against me; they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause. In return for my love they are my accusers, but I give myself to prayer. Thus they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. Set a wicked man over him, and let an accuser stand at his right hand. When he is judged, let him be found guilty, and let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few, and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. Let his children continually be vagabonds, and beg; let them seek their bread also from their desolate places. Let the creditor seize all that he has, and let strangers plunder his labor. Let there be none to extend mercy to him, nor let there be any to favor his fatherless children. Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. Let them be continually before the Lord, that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth; because he did not remember to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; as he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him. As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, so let it enter his body like water, and like oil into his bones. Let it be to him like the garment which covers him, and for a belt with which he girds himself continually. Let this be the Lord’s reward to my accusers, and to those who speak evil against my person. But You, O God the Lord, deal with me for Your name’s sake; because Your mercy is good, deliver me.


This psalm is a desperate cry when betrayal comes to the life of the one who does good. Moreover, the psalmist confessed that his disappointment lies in the fact that he has given love and affection and yet they paid him with evil when he gave good. Don't forget to read the entire chapter.
This psalm of David is important because it is a prophetic psalm about the Messiah. Centuries later this psalm was fulfilled in the life of Jesus, when He was betrayed by one of His closest followers, one of the 12 disciples who were with Jesus most of the time. They lived together, ate, prayed, rested and walked in the same places where Jesus was continually ministering. They traveled together in boats and walked from village to village, city to city, and for about 3 years they saw the hand of God working mightily.
When you imagine the privilege that the 12 disciples had to have lived all this with Jesus, any of us would have liked to have had that opportunity that they had.
However, one of them handed Him over to the false leaders who were seeking the death of Jesus. Judas Iscariot (not Judas Thaddaeus) was the one who handed Him with a kiss, after having received some pieces of silver in exchange for Him. All this happened so that the Scriptures would be fulfilled that Jesus would be sold for a few pieces of silver and would be betrayed.
Of all the disciples, it was Judas who opened his heart to Satan and fell into the temptation to sell his great privilege of invaluable position as a disciple of Jesus for a few coins of material value. He preferred temporary pleasure for the eternal. By falling into evil, he despised the blessing!
After Jesus died and resurrected, His disciples gathered according to the Lord's promise that they would stay in Jerusalem and wait for the filling of the Holy Spirit. In that place, Peter gets up and recites the verse from this psalm where it says: “another takes his office”. At that time the empty place of Judas was replaced by Matthias to continue the work of the apostolate.

If one day you think about betraying your principles and your convictions, and you decide to forget your faith and the God who called you, loved you and saved you, bear in mind that it will be a very great pain in the heart of the Lord, and another will take your place. You could enjoy worldly pleasures that are only temporary, and as a consequence you will lose the privilege of enjoying the true joy of the Lord here on earth that only God can offer and also eternal life.
Don't allow another to take your place, continue doing your work that God entrusted to you, and never underestimate the blessing of God.

Do you value the place God has given you in God's family?
Are you passing these values ​​on to the members of your household?

Diciembre 15: No menosprecies la bendición.

Salmos 109:1‭-‬21 RVA2015:
Oh Dios de mi alabanza, no guardes silencio, pues la boca del impío y la del engañador se han abierto contra mí; han hablado contra mí con lengua engañosa. Con palabras de odio me han rodeado; sin causa han luchado contra mí. En pago de mi amor me han acusado, aunque yo oraba. Me han devuelto mal por bien, y odio por amor. Levanta contra él a un impío, y un acusador esté a su mano derecha. Cuando sea juzgado, que resulte culpable, y que su oración sea tenida por pecado. Sean pocos sus días, y tome otro su oficio. Queden huérfanos sus hijos, y su mujer quede viuda. Anden sus hijos vagabundos y mendigando; procuren su pan lejos de sus casas arruinadas. Que el acreedor se apodere de todo lo que tiene, y extraños saqueen el fruto de su trabajo. No tenga quien le haga misericordia ni haya quien se compadezca de sus huérfanos. Su posteridad sea destruida; en la segunda generación sea borrado su nombre. Sea recordada ante el SEÑOR la maldad de sus padres; no sea borrado el pecado de su madre. Estén siempre delante del SEÑOR, y elimine él de la tierra la memoria de ellos. Porque no se acordó de mostrar misericordia, y persiguió al hombre pobre, necesitado y quebrantado de corazón hasta matarlo. Amó la maldición; ¡que esta le venga! No quiso la bendición; ¡que se aleje de él! Vístase de maldición como de su manto, y entre ella como agua en sus entrañas y como aceite en sus huesos. Séale como vestido que lo cubra, y como cinturón que siempre lo ciña. Este sea el pago de parte del SEÑOR para con los que me acusan, para los que hablan mal contra mi vida. Pero tú, oh SEÑOR Dios, favoréceme por amor de tu nombre; líbrame, porque buena es tu misericordia.

Este salmo es un clamor desesperado cuando llega la traición a la vida del que hace el bien. Es más, el salmista confesó que su decepción radica en que él ha dado amor y cariño y aun así le pagaron con el mal cuando él daba el bien. No olvides leer todo el capítulo completo.
Este salmo de David es importante porque es un salmo profético acerca del Mesías. Siglos después se cumplió este salmo en la vida de Jesús, cuando fue traicionado por uno de sus seguidores más cercanos, uno de los 12 discípulos que estaban con Jesús la mayor parte del tiempo. Ellos convivían, comían, oraban, descansaban y caminaban en los mismos lugares donde Jesús continuamente iba ministrando. Viajaron juntos en barcas y caminaban de aldea en aldea, ciudad en ciudad, y por unos 3 años vieron la mano de Dios obrar poderosamente.
Cuando imaginas el privilegio que tuvieron los 12 discípulos de haber vivido todo eso al lado de Jesús, cualquiera de nosotros hubiéramos querido haber tenido esa oportunidad que ellos tuvieron.
Sin embargo, uno de ellos lo entregó en manos de los líderes falsos que buscaban la muerte de Jesús. Judas Iscariote (no Judas Tadeo) fue quien lo entregó con un beso, después de haber recibido unas piezas de plata a cambio de él. Todo esto ocurrió para que se cumplieran las Escrituras de que Jesús sería vendido por unas monedas de plata y sería traicionado.
De todos los discípulos, fue Judas quien abrió su corazón a Satanás y cayó en la tentación de vender su grande privilegio de invaluable posición como discípulo de Jesús por unas monedas de valor material. Prefirió el placer temporal por el eterno. Al caer en el mal, ¡menospreció la bendición!
Después que Jesús murió y resucitó, sus discípulos se reunieron conforme a la promesa del Señor de que se quedaran en Jerusalén y esperaran la llenura del Espíritu Santo. En ese lugar, Pedro se levanta y recita el verso de este salmo donde dice: “tome otro su oficio”. En ese momento el lugar vacío de Judas fue reemplazado por Matías para que continuara la obra del apostolado.

Si algún día piensas en traicionar tus principios y tus convicciones, y decides olvidar tu fe y al Dios que te llamó, te amó y te salvó, ten en cuenta que será un dolor muy grande en el corazón del Señor, y que tu lugar lo tomará otro. Podrías disfrutar de los placeres mundanos que solo son temporales, y por consecuencia perderás el privilegio de gozar de la verdadera alegría del Señor aquí en la tierra y también la vida eterna.
No permitas que otro tome tu lugar, sigue realizando tu labor que Dios te encomendó, y jamás menosprecies la bendición de Dios.

¿Valoras el lugar que Dios te ha dado en la familia de Dios?
¿Estás pasando estos valores a los miembros de tu hogar?
