Deuteronomio 21: La maldición de la cruz nos trajo bendición.

Deuteronomio 21:22‭-‬23 RVA2015:
“Si un hombre ha cometido pecado que merece la muerte, por lo cual se le ha dado la muerte, y lo has colgado de un árbol, no quedará su cuerpo en el árbol durante la noche. Sin falta le darás sepultura el mismo día, porque el ahorcado es una maldición de Dios. Así no contaminarás la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da como heredad.

En este capítulo vemos la severidad del cumplimiento de la ley de Moisés. Aquí se especifica la forma cómo se debía castigar al blasfemo o transgresor de la ley.
En algunos casos, el que cometió una falta debía restituir al afectado; y en otros casos, el castigo era la pena máxima que era la muerte.
En esta porción bíblica que leímos podemos ver la acción que se debía hacer con aquel que era condenado a muerte y que era colgado, su cuerpo se debía removerse del madero donde fue colgado antes que se acabara el día, para que la tierra no fuera maldecida por este cuerpo colgando de un día para otro.

La razón por la cual escogí este verso hoy es para que miremos la conexión que tiene este verso con la obra magnífica de Jesús en la cruz del calvario. Jesucristo murió colgado en un madero. Un hombre muy respetado en el pueblo judío llamado José, de Arimatea, pidió permiso a las autoridades romanas para poder bajar el cuerpo de Jesús y ser sepultado por dos razones: Primero, porque se aproximaba la Pascua y todos debían estar preparándose para esta gran fiesta; y segundo, porque él quería hacer cumplir este reglamento de la ley que leímos acerca de los cuerpos colgados.
El apóstol Pablo nos explica el gran significado y la importancia de que Jesús hubiera muerto de esta forma en Gálatas 3:13-14: “Cristo nos redimió de la maldición de la ley al hacerse maldición por nosotros (porque está escrito: Maldito todo el que es colgado en un madero), para que la bendición de Abraham llegara por Cristo Jesús a los gentiles, a fin de que recibamos la promesa del Espíritu por medio de la fe.”

¡Así que Jesús, al llevar la maldición de toda la humanidad en la cruz, nos estaba bendiciendo! En ese momento, las bendiciones y promesas de Abraham estaban siendo extendidas y transferidas a los gentiles, los no judíos.

Es necesario que valoremos esta obra tan grande, el sacrificio de Jesús en la cruz, que lo sufrió todo para que fuéramos llenos de paz y sanidad. Para que tú y yo podamos disfrutar de la presencia de Dios junto con nuestra familia y que nuestro hogar esté lleno del amor de Dios.
Por medio de Aquel que fue colgado en un madero, tenemos paz y redención. Por eso te invito para que hoy hagas una oración de agradecimiento al Señor por su gran sacrificio de amor.

Deuteronomy 21: The curse of the cross brought us blessing.

Deuteronomy 21:22-23:
“If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.

In this chapter we see the severity of the fulfillment of the law of Moses. Here it is specified how the blasphemer or transgressor of the law should be punished.
In some cases, the one who committed a fault had to restore the affected person; and in other cases, the punishment was the maximum penalty which was death.
In this biblical portion that we read we can see the action that should be done with the one who was sentenced to death and who was hanged, his body should be removed from the tree (pole) where he was hung before the end of the day, so that the earth would not be cursed by this body hanging from one day to the next.

The reason I chose this verse today is for us to look at the connection this verse has to the magnificent work of Jesus on the cross at Calvary. Jesus Christ died hanging on a tree (pole). A highly respected man in the Jewish people named Joseph, of Arimathea, asked the Roman authorities for permission to be able to lower the body of Jesus and be buried for two reasons: First, because Easter was approaching and everyone had to be preparing for this great feast; and second, because he wanted to enforce this regulation of the law that we read about hanging bodies.
The apostle Paul explains to us the great significance and importance of Jesus dying in this way in Galatians 3:13-14: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

So Jesus, by bearing the curse of all mankind on the cross, was blessing us! At that time, the blessings and promises of Abraham were being extended and transferred to the Gentiles, the non-Jews.

It is necessary that we value this great work, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, who suffered everything so that we could be filled with peace and healing. So that you and I can enjoy the presence of God together with our family and that our home is full of God's love.
Through Him who was hanged on a tree (pole), we have peace and redemption. That is why I invite you to say a prayer of thanks to the Lord today for His great sacrifice of love.
