St. Peter's Health Partners and Ellis Medicine have signed a letter of intent to merge operations, but it is not a done deal. Some members of the community served by Ellis are voicing concerns about the implications of such a merger. In this podcast edition of Upstate Issues, Diane Donato talks with Michelle Ostrelich, a member of the Schenectady County Legislature and part of the Schenectady Coalition for Healthcare Access. Ostrelich talks about trying to balance the economic realities that drive mergers with concerns that future healthcare options for the community could be influenced by religious considerations which govern St. Peter's Health Partners. St. Peter's is a member of Trinity Health, one of the nation's largest Catholic health systems.
