Thanks for this. Did not know before that there was more than one Tantalus. I can understand why Clytemnestra, who had things tough, murdered Agamemnon. But a question I struggle with not addressed in this podcast is why she murdered Cassandra too? I can more easily understand how someone like Penelope, who loved her husband Odysseus, would have been jealous and angry if Odysseus brought a Trojan slave concubine back from the Trojan War, who she might see as a rival. However, since Clytemnestra does not want Agamemnon back, it is surely no threat to her if Agamemnon has Cassandra as his slave mistress? Indeed, a more modern attitude would be to sympathise with Cassandra, who had no choice in the matter, as another of Agamemnon's victims. Or, to look at things from an ancient point of view, Cassandra, as a young adult slave, is valuable property, who could be traded for cattle or something if Clytemnestra does not want Cassandra working as a slave in her palace.
