The 57th Super Bowl happened tonight. The Chiefs and the Eagles faced off in Glendale, AZ. The ads at the Super Bowl are as much an event as the game itself. But, are they as special as they used to be? Many of the ads are posted online before the game (Busch Lite, Honda, etc...) but in some cases, companies run commercials advertising that they’ll be running an ad during the game. It’s a meta ad... an advertisement advertising their advertisement. California is considering punishing people who drive larger vehicles. Why? Who knows? They claim it’s for safety reasons but it sure looks more like a sin tax or, more pessimistically, a sale of indulgence. Are the politicians REALLY that concerned about safety? After the pandemic hundreds of thousands of kids didn’t go back to school. They are considered “missing” students on the rolls. Oddly, the concerns schools have don’t seem to be around the wellbeing of the students, but rather about the funding they may be missing out on.
