In this episode we continue studying the Book of Exodus. In this episode the children of Israel continue to murmur and complain. This time they complain about food saying, they wished they had died by one of the plagues in Egypt than die from hunger in the wilderness.

They said Moses brought them into the wilderness to kill them. Moses had to remind them, that it was God who brought them out of Egypt, so their murmuring and complaining was against God and not him and Aaron.

God heard their murmuring and then provided quail and Manna for them.

Athough He provided for them, many did not obey Him.

They were told not to go out on the sabbath to get Manna but some did anyway.

They were told not to save Manna over night but some did anyway and the camp stunk.

God said, He gave them instructions for gathering Manna, so he would no if they would obey his law or not.

Here’s the text:

Exodus 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

If we don’t obey God on earth, God knows we won’t obey him when we get to heaven. So he won’t let us in heaven, if we don't obey him now.

Those who prove they won’t obey him now will not be granted entrance into the gates of heaven, they will not be granted eternal life.

The Manna came down from heaven and settled on the ground like frost, it was small in size and was handpicked off the ground.

They had to work to get the bread, they had to bend their backs to get it, it took work, it took some effort.

They worked to get the Manna because they were hungry. And We must be hungry for Christ, and labor daily, we must be willing to do the necessary work to obtain this special bread. For there is none like in all the earth.

It takes work and effort to get the bread of heaven, we have to bend backs in humility. We have to humbly submit to him and obey his commands.

We also note they could only gather Manna one day at time. They couldn’t get some today and save it for tomorrow, except on the 6th day.

We need to make sure we have Christ today and not worry about tomorrow or put it off until tomorrow. We only have a certain amount of days before we enter into the rest of God.

The day will come, when we will have to cease from all our labors. God has given us a certain amount of time to prepare for our Sabbath rest, that is, to get the Manna, that bread from heaven, Jesus Christ, who gives us eternal life.

If we don’t have the bread of life, when we enter into that state of rest, our souls will go hungry. It will be too late to get the bread, we should have and could have gotten when we had the time and chance get it.

We must do the necessary work, required to obtain the bread of life now, while there is breath in our mortal body.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
