In this episode we continue studying the Book of Exodus. In this episode Pharaoh’s servants have had enough of Moses.

They said, “How long will this man be a snare unto us?

Moses, the man of God has become a thorn in their flesh and pricks in their eyes. They even tell Pharaoh “Let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God. Don’t you know that Egypt is destroyed?

In the last chapter when Moses announced the plague of hail and fire, some of Pharaoh’s servants took their cattle indoors to protect them because they believed Moses's words would come to pass, but some left them outside, they disregarded Moses’ warning.

The one’s who left their flocks outdoors railed against those who took them in. How could they heed the voice of that traitor? So some believed Moses was right that Pharaoh should let them go. But some believed Pharaoh was right and should not let them go.

There was much contention in Pharaoh’s kingdom. His kingdom was divided and according to Jesus a kingdom divided cannot stand.

Mark 3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

Mark 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

Mark 3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

Mark 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

Pharaoh’s great house wouldn’t be able to stand much longer. And Moses and His people would spoil his great house. But not before Pharaoh heeds the voice of his administration and tries to bargain with Moses.

He would let the people go but the children would have to stay behind. Moses refused to compromise, then Pharaoh said, o.k. everyone can go but leave your flocks behind. But Moses said no, we need to take the flocks because we don’t know what type of sacrifice God will ask us to give.

This is what Satan wanted, if they had to go worship their God, they could go but without having the means to make a blood sacrifice. The children of Israel worshipped idols along with the Egyptians. They too worshipped the false gods of the land and needed to have their sins forgiven.

They needed the animals, to make a sacrifice for their sins because without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

And it would be because of the blood of the lamb they would be spared the plague of death that kills the firstborn child of every Egyptian. Because of the blood of the lamb none of the Israelites would die on that deadly night.

In this chapter locusts stripped the land. They ate all the fruit on the trees and the herbs of the field.

So we can understand why his servants were compelling Pharaoh to at least let the men go worship their God.

When darkness covered Egypt for three days and there was light in Israel, Pharaoh said, he had sinned.

In the last chapter he said, he and his people were wicked. Now he mentions sin. He knows his behavior is against God, the only one who can define righteousness, the only one with complete authority over man and has the right to tell him what to do.

He’s finally coming to know the Lord. And all though he will acknowledge his sin and wickedness, he refuses to humble himself.

Every time he negotiated with Moses there were stipulations. He wanted to be in control.

With each concession there was something in it that kept the Israelites from fulfilling the complete will of God.

In our lives, the enemy may let us go worship God but with stipulations, go to church and worship God but come back home to your bondage.

Go to church and worship God but don’t acknowledge Christ, there are other ways to get to heaven, he says.

But in order to fulfill the complete will of God we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. And the truth is that Jesus died to deliver us from all our bondage and He is the only way to God. He is the only reason we are granted access to heaven.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
