I love to do Garden Walks.

Similar to a longer Medicine Walk that I both practice as well as facilitate for clients, a Garden Walk allows me to take assessment of what’s going on,.

Where are the weeds or invasive plants getting out of hand?

What needs water? Or, what needs to be emptied from water gathering?

What plants are bearing fruit? Which ones look healthy? Which ones need to be staked and supported? Which ones are just being beautiful and graceful and wanting to be appreciated?

When I’m weeding, I like to see how “clean” the space looks after the undesirable plant is removed. I enjoy the feeling of getting the whole thing, by the roots, to ensure it doesn’t just come back. It’s more of a tending and clearing than fighting. That’s not how it used to be. I used to act like the weed was doing something "to me.” Taking up space and nourishment that belongs to other plants I like more. They were “Wrong.”

It used to be it was the “fight” against these weeds that took more energy. Now, it’s the looking forward to what the space would look like without them. I’m finding that clearing the weeds is a feeding energy. A positive one.

I pile up the weeds to die on the hot pavers and then compost them for future plants to be nurtured by. The other plants in the garden now have breathing space and I enjoy the beauty that results.

It’s a win-win for all.

This week’s podcast is about where we put out energy. Are we feeding the good or giving more energy to the unwanted? Fighting or fueling?

Join in to listen to what unfolds.

And drink lots of water, and notice where your energy is flowing. Nourish what you find beautiful, including your gorgeous Self!
