Aries Spears (born April 3, 1975) is an American stand-up comedian, impressionist, and actor from New Jersey. He is best known for his work on the Fox sketch comedy series MADtv, where he was a regular cast member from 1995 to 2001.Spears was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to New York City with his family when he was two years old. His mother, Doris Spears, is a jazz singer. Spears began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 14 and made his television debut on Showtime at the Apollo in 1987. In 1992, he made his film debut in the comedy The Pest.In 1995, Spears joined the cast of MADtv. He became one of the show's most popular cast members, known for his impressions of celebrities such as Eddie Murphy, Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. He also created and performed several original characters, including Officer Sweetchuck and Coach Hines.After leaving MADtv in 2001, Spears continued to perform stand-up comedy and appeared in several films and television shows, including Malcolm X (1992), Jerry Maguire (1996), Out-of-Sync (1995), and Why Do Fools Fall in Love (1998). In 2011, he released a stand-up comedy special called Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I'm Smiling.Spears is also a voice actor and has provided voices for several animated shows, including The Boondocks (2005-2014), The Cleveland Show (2009-2014), and American Dad!
