We discuss with the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Banking Association, Anna Bligh, the commercial reasons banks are closing regional branches, whether they will self-impose a moratorium like the Commonwealth Bank have on branch closures as another political inquiry occurs and the growing role Australia Post is playing in banking services. We explore whether Australia Post alter its shopfronts to provide more confidentiality for regional bank customers and why bank customers are entitled to vote with their feet if another bank or other institution is offering better services in their town.
