Sriram Raghavan's Andhadhun follows Ayushmann Khurrana's Akash, a pianist pretending to be blind, who walks into the aftermath of a murder and Tabu's Simi, the film star's wife who committed it. The best way in is knowing nothing past that premise. The script keeps ratcheting the situation up with every scene and never tips into convolution, and missing one small moment changes the whole movie. Is it a great Indian film, or just a great film that happens to be Indian?
The Bollywood Cinema Club's Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, and Harris Porter ('Night, Mr. Walters!) talk Simi's coffee test, the Fargo-style bumbling accomplices who go into business for themselves, the one-eyed rabbit as the film's governing metaphor, a final shot in the vein of The Usual Suspects, attention spans and whether serious narrative film survives TikTok, and the remakes already lined up, including the Malayalam Bhramam on Prime Video.
