On Tuesday, August 27, Anambra State celebrated its 33rd anniversary. It was a time to reflect on a journey marked by significant growth and development.
Created on August 27, 1991, by the military administration of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Anambra has evolved from its historical roots into a vibrant state in the southeast, becoming a key economic and cultural hub.
Notable institutions, projects and individuals are what make Anambra tick.
They include the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, and the Anambra State University Teaching Hospital, and others. The state is also home to key economic hubs like the Onitsha Main Market and the Nnewi Industrial Cluster.
Anambra parades influential individuals across various fields. Among them are Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Professor Chinua Achebe, Cyprian Ekwensi, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Professors Chike Obi and Kenneth Dike, among many others.
