mostra di piùThis episode is one from the archives, an interview with Micky Dolenz, the drummer and vocalist of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame deserving but not yet inducted Monkees. This is from November of 2014 so some of the material will be dated but Micky’s take on his relationship with his fans fits right in with the theme of this podcast.
As for the interview, it was one that was used as a reason to terminate a job I held at a local YMCA as executive director. Micky’s manager called me at work and since I did not recognize the number I answered it thinking there may have been a family emergency. In my termination papers they cited Micky Dolenz by name, and that I took the call and conducted the interview during my regular work hours, even though I was a salaried employee and conducted the interview during my lunch hour and off-site.
One other little tidbit, for some reason I was convinced that I had read somewhere that Henry Winkler grew up in Niagara Falls NY. That is not the case, and I still have no clue how that fake fact popped into my head. Of course Micky cleared up a few rumors in this episode, so it all worked out.
I want to give special thanks to my friend and Monkee fan Peggy Barringer. She is the one I reference twice. I also have a second interview that I conducted with Micky that I will likely use for my other podcast- NIght and Day.
