What was described as a “Sasquatch-like” monster attacked and killed one man, while the second man was able to escape, running back to Burns Station to tell someone about this “werewolf” and what had happened. A hunt party was formed to track the beast and was successful in shooting it, but the shots left the creature unfazed. A big game hunter was brought in to track the beast and successfully shot it, but it was unfazed by the bullets, once more, but ran away at the first glimpse of sunlight that morning.
You can access Werewolf Springs by taking an 11-mile overnight hiking trail within Montgomery Bell State Park.
