Take a trip down memory lane in this exclusive, live broadcast from Uvalde Radio’s brand-new downtown studio on North Getty Street! Before opening the doors to the public, host Robert Miguel plugs in a hodgepodge of temporary gear to sit down with Texas singer-songwriter Max Rios.

Ahead of his Friday Night Live acoustic showcase at Broadway 830, Max dives deep into the high-fidelity nostalgia powering his two-song EP, Record Store Days. Together, Robert and Max trade stories about the sacred Gen X ritual of hanging out in record stores, taking a gamble on an album just because of the cover art, and finding your tribal identity through music pins and cassettes.

Max also opens up about his expansive, decade-spanning career across Texas—from his grinding ’90s days in the restrictive local Tejano scene to finding his voice in a genre-bending blend of melodic rock, country roots, and cinematic storytelling. He pulls back the curtain on the raw, autobiographical truths behind his single "Better Than That," explains why he chooses to road-trip solo, and shares the wild Austin fever dream that inspired "South Congress Serenade."

Hit play for a warm, conversational look at life on the highway, the value of human intelligence over artificial algorithms, and the enduring magic of physical music.
