The companions were those who:
1. Met the prophet
2. Believed in him
3. Died upon Islām
Some of the companions were blind, so the scholars have said that met him is more appropriate.
3 Types of People will not enter Jannah:
1. The one addicted to alcohol
2. The one who cuts the ties (family)
3. The one who believed in magic
* This narration is not restrictive, as they is not the only sins due to which one cannot enter Jannah
* There are other examples of such narrations, such as the devils climbing upon each other to learn of the truth, which they pass on to the magicians who mix with it a hundred lies. This does not mean exactly 100.
* While this narration does not mean that the muslim who is alcoholic will not enter Jannah forever, the scholars have stated that one should leave the narration as it is for the sake of admonishment. For example, when one is warning an alcoholic of their sin.
* It can be explained further to students of knowledge
* One cannot use the Decree (Qadr) as an excuse for sin, as their is still choice in the matter
* Intoxicants have been prohibited to preserve the mind

* The one who cuts the ties is under the curse of Allāh, and there is evidence of this in the Qur’ān and Sunnah
* Keeping the family ties is important for the muslim
* The rights of the parents have been directly connected in the Qur’ān to the right of Allāh to be worshipped alone
* The rights of the parents have been mentioned many times in the Qur’an
* Cutting off the parents, or treating them improperly is from the major sins
* Making Istihlal of something that is haram is Kufr
* This is something that the Khawaarij have got wrong, as they accuse leaders who make mistakes of it and thereby misguide the muslims and incite revolution
