Nikki Kuhnhausen, a transgender teen, found herself at a friend’s home in Vancouver, Washington, on the 6th of June, 2019. While she was normally chatty, her attention was fixated on her cell phone, chatting away on Snapchat with a man she had just met downtown. As the early morning hours approached, Nikki left her friend’s home, embarking on a journey from which she would never return.
