HOTELES SIN NIÑOS

Hace un par de años, estando de vacaciones en Altea, un pueblecito de las Baleares, me sorprendió ver en un hotel un cartel a la entrada que ponía “Hotel sin Niños”. Me sorprendió muchísimo que pudiera existir un hotel en el que se prohibiera la entrada a niños y adolescentes. A partir de entonces he empezado a ver muchos hoteles que publicitan y presumen precisamente de esto, de que en sus instalaciones se puede uno relajar y disfrutar porque no hay niños alrededor.
La mayoría ponen el límite de edad en 16 años aunque hay muchos que la amplían hasta los 18. La mayoría son hoteles de lujo y están en Baleares, que tienen aproximadamente un centenar y en las islas Canarias, parece que nuestro país es líder en este tipo de hoteles que no se entienden en Inglaterra, Italia o Francia, países con mucho turismo familiar.
Parece imposible que se pueda prohibir la entrada en un hotel a un niño o adolescente simplemente por serlo, sería como prohibir la entrada a mayores de 60 años o a personas de determinada nacionalidad o incluso a personas obesas o con gafas. La medida es claramente anticonstitucional y podría denunciarse, el problema es que los clientes que acuden a estos hoteles protesta si ve niños o adolescentes en las instalaciones.

El problema no son los niños, son los adultos que envejecen y se vuelven cada vez menos tolerantes y reclaman hoteles, restaurantes, cines, trenes y vuelos sin niños. Hay ya aerolíneas que por el módico precio de 25 euros más, te colocan en las primeras filas donde está prohibido que se sientes menores de 12 años. ¿Se puede ser más intransigente?

HOTELS ONLY FOR ADULTS

A couple of years ago, while on holiday in Altea, a small town in the Balearic Islands, I was surprised to see a sign at a hotel entrance that said "Hotel without Children". I was very surprised that there could be a hotel where children and teenagers were banned from entering. Since then I have started to see many hotels that advertise and boast of this, that in their facilities you can relax and enjoy because there are no children around.
Most put the age limit at 16 years although there are many that extend it to 18. Most are luxury hotels and are in the Balearics, which have approximately a hundred and in the Canary Islands. It seems that our country is a leader in this type of hotels that are not understood in England, Italy or France, countries with a lot of family tourism.
It seems impossible that a child or adolescent can be banned from entering a hotel simply because they are young, it would be like forbidding people over 60 or people of a certain nationality or even obese people with glasses. The measure is clearly unconstitutional and could be denounced, the problem is that customers who come to these hotels complain if they see children or teenagers on the premises.

The problem is not the children, it is the adults who age and become less and less tolerant and demand hotels, restaurants, cinemas, trains and flights without children. There are already airlines that for the modest price of 25 euros more, place you in the first rows where it is forbidden to sit under 12 years. Can anyone be more intransigent?

Fortunately, there are still hotels, restaurants, cinemas and "children friendly" places and people.
