This week we had a lovely chat with Dr. Effy Germanis, Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist, about the thyroid connection to adrenal issues.
Many people come to us with questions about if their thyroid issues are affecting their adrenals or if their adrenal issues could be influencing their thyroid.
We discuss where to start when it comes to testing and root level things to consider that help both on a foundational level!
Here's a breakdown of what we discussed:
- The thyroid in general, what is it, and what it does. What happens when it’s imbalanced?
- What is the adrenal/thyroid connection and why do we need to know about it
- Hyper vs Hypo-thyroid, a quick overview
- What is Hashimotos- what’s the difference between regular thyroid issues
- How Hashi's is diagnosed and what are the causes/symptoms?
- Trauma and gut issues as root causes that we overlook
- When it comes to getting thyroid clarity -- why do things look okay on blood work but often not tell the whole story, what testing do we need to do to get a clear understanding of what’s actually going on? How do we go about getting this?
