One in five older persons in the study sample (n = 191; 21.3%) reported elder abuse, an increase of 83.6% from prevalence estimates before the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic this was one in ten. That’s an increase of almost 84% thats Huge ! And according to The National Council on Aging Up to 5 Million elders are abused every year costing an estimated 36.5 Billion dollars that is scammed every year. And the worst of all statistic is only 1 in 24 is reported.
