  1. High stress levels, due to the bi-directional gut-brain axis connection, reduce biodiversity in the microbiome and high cortisol hormone levels can cause the gut lining to become damaged. Practice daily stress management such as meditation or gratitude journaling and nurture close friendships so you can help each other in times of stress. 
  2. Manage emotional eating during times of stress and help reduce the strain on the gut by reaching for foods that are high in fiber and fatty acids such as a trail mix, fruit bowl, and stay hydrated with water.
