1 Reyes 1: Escucha los consejos para corregir y prevenir los errores en el hogar.

V.2 "Entonces Adonías, hijo de Haguit, se enalteció diciendo: “¡Yo seré rey!”. Y se consiguió un carro, jinetes y cincuenta hombres que corrieran delante de él. En toda su vida, su padre no lo había contrariado diciéndole: “¿Por qué has actuado así?”. Él era también de muy buena presencia y había nacido después de Absalón."

Después de aprender sobre la vida de David en los libros de Samuel, en este libro de Reyes veremos el final del reinado de David, pues narra cómo fue el traspaso del reino a su hijo Salomón. De ahí en adelante, aprenderemos sobre el reinado de Salomón y los demás reyes de Israel y Judá.
En este capítulo vemos cómo David sigue teniendo problemas con sus hijos, y notamos un detalle importante del porqué de ese problema: David no estorbaba a sus hijos, no los contrariaba. Ellos hacían cosas que no eran correctas y David no les decía nada, no los corregía. David no veía que esas actitudes de arrogancia y egoísmo serían un problema para él y para ellos, pues cuando uno de ellos cometía una falta y se revelaba buscando sentarse en el trono, al final encontraron la muerte.
Este tema de negligencia parental lo vimos en 1 Samuel 2 con los hijos del Sacerdote Eli, y también en 2 Samuel 14 con los hijos de David, Amnón y Absalón, que tampoco corrigió. Puedes leer y escuchar este tema acerca de estos capítulos en el devocional.

Adonías dio señales de su mala intención, de querer hacerse rey, aunque todos sabían que Salomón sería el heredero del trono, pero, como era uno de los menores, fue menospreciado por sus hermanos. Además, con todo el protocolo y pompa con que Adonías se había hecho rodear, Adonías se ganó el favor de muchos en Israel.
Cuando Adonías hizo un gran banquete para posicionarse como el próximo rey con el favor del pueblo, el profeta Natán y la madre de Salomón fueron y hablaron con prudencia al rey de lo que estaba pasando. David los escuchó y se apresuró a ungir a Salomón delante del pueblo. Esta acción salvó las vidas de Salomón y muchos más, porque si David moría sin haber presentado al heredero de su reino, Adonías tomaría el trono a la fuerza y destruiría a Salomón y a los demás que eran fieles a David y Salomón.
Lo que hizo la diferencia en la decisión de David para poder corregir las malas intenciones de Adonías y prevenir una tragedia fue que David escuchó a su esposa y al profeta de Dios. Natán era el hombre que Dios había puesto en la vida de David para hablar la Palabra de Dios y aconsejar en los momentos cruciales. David respetaba mucho a Natán y también a su esposa Betsabé, la cual había prometido el reino a su hijo.

Es necesario que nosotros seamos sensibles a la voz de Dios y sabios para escuchar a los que ven cosas que nosotros no vemos. Los buenos consejos del pastor, que es el profeta de Dios para guiarnos con la Palabra de Dios, y de nuestros seres queridos, especialmente nuestro esposo o esposa, son importantes para que podamos corregir y mejorar nuestra forma de guiar a nuestros hijos y de tomar decisiones para el bienestar de nuestro hogar.
David casi sufre otra tragedia como la que sufrió con Absalón, pero esta vez David tomó acciones que impidieron que Adonías trajera más dolor y confusión al reino de David.
Así que, sigue el ejemplo de David que escuchó el buen consejo y puso un alto a Adonías. Toma acción para corregir, educar y guiar a tus hijos. Nunca es demasiado tarde, pero no esperes que llegue una crisis o tragedia familiar para tomar acción.

1 Reyes 1:5-14:
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king”; and he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. (And his father had not rebuked him at any time by saying, “Why have you done so?” He was also very good-looking. His mother had borne him after Absalom.) Then he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they followed and helped Adonijah. But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David were not with Adonijah. And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fattened cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En Rogel; he also invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants. But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or Solomon his brother. So Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know it? Come, please, let me now give you advice, that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon. Go immediately to King David and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord, O king, swear to your maidservant, saying, “Assuredly your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’ Then, while you are still talking there with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words.”

After learning about David's life in the books of Samuel, in this book of Kings we will see the end of David's reign, as it narrates how the kingdom was transferred to his son Solomon. From then on, we will learn about the reign of Solomon and the other kings of Israel and Judah.
In this chapter we see how David continues to have problems with his children, and we notice an important detail of the reason for this problem: David did not get in the way of his children, he did not upset them. They did things that weren't right and David didn't tell them anything, he didn't correct them. David did not see that these attitudes of arrogance and selfishness would be a problem for him and for them, because when one of them committed a mistake and revealed himself seeking to sit on the throne, in the end they found death.
We saw this topic of parental neglect in 1 Samuel 2 with the sons of Eli the priest, and also in 2 Samuel 14 with the sons of David, Amnon and Absalom, which he did not correct either. You can read and hear this topic about these chapters in the devotional.

Adonijah gave signs of his evil intention, of wanting to become king, although everyone knew that Solomon would be the heir to the throne, but, as he was one of the minors, he was despised by his brothers. Furthermore, with all the protocol and pomp that Adonijah had surrounded himself with, Adonijah gained favor with many in Israel.
When Adonijah made a great banquet to position himself as the next king with the favor of the people, the prophet Nathan and the mother of Solomon went and prudently spoke to the king about what was happening. David listened to them and rushed to anoint Solomon in front of the people. This action saved the lives of Solomon and many others, because if David died without presenting the heir to his kingdom, Adonijah would take the throne by force and destroy Solomon and the others who were faithful to David and Solomon.
What made the difference in David's decision to correct Adonijah's bad intentions and prevent a tragedy was that David listened to his wife and the prophet of God. Nathan was the man that God had placed in David's life to speak the Word of God and advise on the crucial moments. David respected Nathan very much and also his wife Bathsheba, who had promised the kingdom to their son.

It is necessary for us to be sensitive to the voice of God and be wise to listen to those who see things that we do not see. The good advice of the pastor, who is the prophet of God to guide us with the Word of God, and of our loved ones, especially our husband or wife, are important so that we can correct and improve our way of guiding our children and taking decisions for the well-being of our home.
David almost suffered another tragedy like the one he suffered with Absalom, but this time David took actions that prevented Adonijah from bringing more pain and confusion to David's kingdom.
So, follow the example of David who listened to the good advice and stopped Adonijah. Take action to correct, educate and guide your children. It's never too late, but don't wait for a crisis or family tragedy to take action.
