Natalie Costa is a woman I have been following on Instagram for a while. Whenever I share any of her posts with my friends, they always comment on her ability to see their child, and it often feels as though she is speaking directly to them. This is why I wanted to have a talk with her on my podcast, especially now that schools are back and some children might find it hard to settle back in, form friendships and manage their feelings. We raise all these issues in this conversation.

With over ten years experience in teaching and education, Natalie Costa is all too familiar with the struggles, pressures and demands that both teachers and children face.

This is why she created POWER THOUGHTS. Power Thoughts is a teaching, coaching and mindfulness based service which is aimed at empowering children to tap into the ‘power’ of their minds. Through their sessions the children are taught how to become confident, resilient and robust, developing a ‘can-do’ attitude that allows them to flourish both in and out of the classroom setting.

Currently, my eldest daughter and I are going through one of her courses in how to manage big feelings. It is truly making us think about how we react to things, and helping us put words on where we feel our feelings when they get overwhelming. During the first video, both my daughter and I sat nodding because it was as though Natalie was speaking about my daughter, as she was so spot on with so much. This made us both feel less alone in our feelings, because other children are clearly feeling similar to us.
