In Bolshevik Myth (Diary 1920–1922), Alexander Berkman chronicles his journey through the tumultuous landscape of Bolshevik Russia following the 1917 Revolution. Deported from the USA alongside his partner, Emma Goldman, under the 1918 Anarchist Exclusion Act, Berkman offers an eye-opening account of his experiences from 1920 to 1922. Presented in diary format, the narrative captures his initial fervor for the revolution, which soon gives way to profound disillusionment as he witnesses the Bolsheviks oppressive measures against political dissent. This compelling work serves as a fascinating counterpoint to Deportation Its Meaning and Menace, a final message to the American public penned by Goldman and Berkman before their exile.
