Shannan Gilbert was born on October 24, 1986. In May 2010, she was working as an escort and had traveled to Oak Beach, Long Island, to meet a client. During her visit, she suddenly disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Her disappearance led to a massive search effort and an investigation into her whereabouts.During the search for Shannan, authorities made a grim discovery in December 2010. They found the remains of several other women in the same area where Shannan was last seen.
The case was quickly linked to the work of a suspected serial killer, who later became known as the Long Island Serial Killer.
