Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement today after President Trump promised that he will soon sign an executive order meant to protect public statues and monuments from being vandalized or torn down by mobs.
“President Trump is absolutely correct that decisive action is needed to protect our national heritage from left-wing narcissistic mobs. The left’s vandalism of statues and monuments isn’t just an attack on historical figures they don’t like; it’s an assault on the core values of our republic – this is hatred of America. We, as Americans, have always cherished our history and our unfolding story of advancing freedom – not just for ourselves, but for the entire world. Our statues and monuments honor that history and force us to learn from it. What we are experiencing is not just the ‘canceling’ of our past, but a ‘cancellation’ of what it means to be an American, and that will be catastrophic. Once again, President Trump is standing up when most politicians are silent, and we appreciate his leadership.”
